Captivating Coral

-one of my favs due to the fact that the staff actually wants to help. when they are stocked, nice selection good prices, friendly staff.
-hours aren't too great, and the location is very tricky
-it's hard to know when they get new stuff in. if they updated their online site or posted on forums, i'd know when to go in.

Aquaridise
415 State Route 18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816
732-967-9700
-this place is the same owner of Pets, Pets, Pets formally located in Somerset. They have 2 very, very small frag tanks.
-bunch of fish! prices for hermits are great. i got 12 blue legs for $10

Ocean Gallery
980 Route 22 East North Plainfield, NJ 07060
(908) 226-1100
-i used to love this place. i have to say it has gone down the drain.

Animals and Things
1040 U.S. 1 Woodbridge Township, NJ 07001
(732) 855-8515
-i haven't been in this place for quite some time. when i used to go, they had a great fish selection. i wonder if they have coral...

Aquatic Obsessions
1150 St Georges Ave Avenel, NJ 07001
(732) 634-8448
-one of my favorite stores. they always have fish and their coral selection always gets larger.
-kind of pricey..

Red Sand
318 North Ave Dunellen, NJ 08812
(917) 506-9649
-Feng is just one hell of a character. he has a lot of passion for this hobby. he tries to work with you on price which is cool.
-i haven't seen his new place yet..

thanks empire. Also feel free to post non bias reviews on each store :)
No worries. I tried to be as unbiased as possible. I apologize if I seem biased. I have visited every store I listed, minus Feng's new store, and all my "reviews" are out of first hand experience.

-HUGE selection, dry and livestock.
-pricey, but expected due to location.

Elos AquaStudio
533 Millburn Ave.
Short Hills, NJ 07078
201-516-1000
-this store is beautiful. i went there last week and i was in awe. they had iPad mini's on the wall describing each fish in each tank.
-they had catalogs/books throughout the store giving info about each piece of livestock for sale.
-as any other elos product, the store is pricey. but then again the store is located in Short Hills, so that's expected.

Red Sand is now called Feng's Reef, just down about half a mile where he once was. Place is awesome. Still messy, he claims he's too lazy to clean it up and open shop, but he is open.

Fishtown NJ is nothing but the same name compared to Queens FT.

Last time I went they have a very small SW section and it was a mess. Have not gone back and don't see the need to with the other NNJ stores offering so much better.

It's okay

Fish town in Ramsey NJ I rank good meaning above okay not great. Owner is very knowledgable, staff not so much. Mostly for corals. Not big selection of fish. Prices sometimes a little sketchy. In my opinion for what it's worth.

Also in North NJ:

Fish Hut
114 US Highway 46 East
Saddle Brook, NJ 07663
(973) 253-7300
http://fishhutofnj.com/

Small selection of SW but expanding slowly. They have very good prices compared to the other LFS, the staff is very helpful. I like them, I make them part of my rounds as they are in between Rt 4 and Reef Encounters.

These two are across the street from each other. Worth the trip from NNJ. You get two stores in one trip. Tropiquarium is big so are some livestock prices. Dry goods price was better. ACC is a nice smaller store opened by hobbyist, it is clean very friendly. Prices are average.

He's not really just a hobbyist. He owns his own aquarium maintenance company that got really big, so he opened ACC.

Man, I had no idea these stores existed and I go to Belmar at least once a month. I will have to check them out next time I go.

Thanks guys.

Thanks Tony for putting this thread together. Don't forget about R&R in Washington Twsp. Bergen County. This is a basement operation run by two young guys. They have nice stuff and good prices. You have to call them before you show up. Their info is in the market place forum. You can also get them on Facebook and twitter.

There's also Underwater World in Union. They used to be located in Roselle Park and moved to their current location recently. It's a fairly small saltwater and freshwater fish store. Their prices on marine fish and frags are average. The owners could be a bit more friendly, but they've helped me out when I was starting.
