I'm biased with Grenada as I got married there... great beaches, but lowkey and not very commercialized (as far as I know 4 years ago). So if you're looking for a nightlife, clubs and lounges -- Grenada wouldn't be a good choice unless your resort provides the nightlife. People are incredibly nice, even towards Americans after Reagan's invasion :lol2:

Dominican Republic, Punta cana the best for the money. The wife and I went for 1 week for just 2,000 all inclusive it was incredible 4 star hotel the beaches are breath taking and its only 3 hours to get there.

Sorry to hear about your loss!
Recently went to Costa Rica. It's magnificent and 4-5 star hotels are under $100. Very narrow country so you can so the Caribbean side and Pacific in less then 3 hour drive. Excellent trip that is super kid friendly and CHEAP! Airfare is also very affordable.
