Creating an online forum (not reef related)

One of my other hobbies main site for the tri-state has been recently closed down since the original creator lost interest and got busy with life. The site ran into technical issues and he didn't want to deal with it so he just let it die.

I would like to rebuild a new forum for those who lost out on a good local forum. So I am contemplating on purchasing and utilizing a host for the new forum.

Can I speak with the site admin on tips etc?
