So I had a chance to visit this area of Hong Kong today. This area is located on Tong Choi St in the Mongkok area of Hong Kong. The whole street is lined with pet shops and mostly aquarium stores. It was pretty incredible to see. Enjoy

I got yelled at at one store and then was more restrained. There were a couple really nice tanks that I couldn't get shots of. The prices were very good copperbands were 50hkd (divide by 7 for the exchange rate) they had huge goni colonies for 100hkd. I saw some nice SPS colonies for 350.

Prince Edwards MTR station.
Marine fish prices are about 1/10 up to 1/3 NY prices, since HK is so close to the wholesale source. ie a firefish goby is only $2 US.
Freshwater fish are like 1/10 the price, since fish farms are located a few hundred miles away in China.
Stony corals are a mixed bag at pricing, I can't gauge how they price them, except that I think they are all wild caught and the bigger and more colorful, the more expensive, but they seem astronomical to me, its a different market and I don't they frag anything.

They do have tanks of soft corals (reds/pink trees) that aren't available here since they don't ship well at super low prices. I think people just buy them and let it die and rebuy every month or so.

There are corals growing in local waters too, I spotted them while snorkeling Stanley Bay, and of course plenty of tropical fish. I don't know what the regulations are on netting fish are, but I do see other local divers spear fishing and picking up shellfish.
Locals also fish off the pier and pull up small rabbitfish, which seem to be everywhere. Then they dry them out in the sun and pack them up by the end of the day.
