I'm glad it got shot down by Albany but look for Bloomberg to take it out on the rest of us now. i wouldn't be surprised if he sent out the DOT on a ticket rampage

I'm happy it got shot down..it was a dopey plan, and I wouldn't have been surprised if he would have eventually wanted to extend the hours of it to capture more 'revenue'. If Bloomy wants to reduce congestion he should pull half of the cabs off the streets and people could either walk or take public transportation.
Maybe he could suggest/enforce that the cabbies & buses actually pull INTO the curb and out of traffic when onloading & offloading...like they are supposed to do...

whats going on with this country.tax on driving your car into certain parts of the country.next well have to pay to park in our own driveway.to bloomberg 8 dollars is like paying a quarter in a meter.youll soon see the price of those meters go up to 50 cents or 15 min parking for a quater.the price of the parking lots will raise.he will get that money from somewhere.

You know his billionaire butt is gonna make us pay for shooting it down. I do see 50 cents/15 mins parking somewhere in the future. As as far as "no such thing as a quota"...trust me, quotas are real. They just call them "goals". If you don't write a certain number of parkers/movers/criminal court summones, you butt gets booted to another boro and/or your tours changed. So here comes the ticket blitz.

the ticket cops are insane by me. I see them writing tickets the second the signs say you have to move your car in the am.

now if they really wanted to make some money they could try enforcing the NOISE fines that are already in place. all up and down my street there are faded signs that sign $350 fine for honking! Do you know how many friggin idiots lay on the horn at 3AM???? they could make an easy 20K a night just on my one block. throw in the guys that love to pump the base so you hear it 20 blocks away and you have a gold mine :D
These laws are on the books and they go unused. Hell I'll sit outside and hand out tickets at $350 a pop just to see the look on the morons faces :sgrin:

Noise summonses are hard jon. For horns you have to be sure and then the judges find for the motorists. Boom box radios you need a decibel meter and a secondary complainant that is willing to identify himself/herself and possibly go to court which never happens.

Truth of the summons matter is that the city gets a small percentage of revenue from moving violations. Parking violations and criminal court summonses are where they make their money and only the criminal court summonses that the judge decides to charge money and collect the fine. Most C summonses are paid later when the individual pops on a warrant and then spends the nite in central booking as his payment.

Truth of the matter is that putting it on the cops is just another cop out like the congestion pricing plan is. It would be the same way if they were to raise fares on the busses and the trains or if they raised the parking meters to 50 cents. NYC has the biggest transit network in the country and people still drive from queens to manhattan to go to work. People need to find a way to leave their cars at home and take mass transportation. I know a guy who lives in "Spa Ha" and drives downtown to work every day. Why when the 6 stops very close to where he lives and almost at his doorstep at work. Then he complains about sitting in traffic all the time. If you tell the cops to write more then when they do every one gets all up in arms about quotas and that they are hammering people for petty stuff. "Don't you have better things to do than write me a ticket? Go bust a drug dealer or something." (Could be an actual quote who knows)

What's the solution? I don't know how about collecting on all the back taxes owed to the city by large corporations (Bloomy's friends), or by individuals. How about send some of his useless city hall workers house to house to inspect people who get section 8 but have flat screen TV's PS3's XBoxes, Hum V's PC's $5,000 treadmills in their houses. I thought section 8 was to provide for the basics, ahh that's right the other occupations you have provide for the luxuries

Ok so maybe that's a way to solve some financial problems (yeah right with the BS green NYC talk) but I am no financial wiz, I'm just a professional baby sitter.

Phoenix it seems you may be a babysitter too, or you know one well.

Oh BTW you people do know that The Fire Dept, Sanitation, DEP, The Crane Guys, and many more can also write summonses to people right? How come nobody ever suggests that!

Jon that they should! They are real heroes What has brad pitt done for society directly? Except Bang Angelina Jolie? I don't see him running into buildings to save people when the building is burning down. Steve Buscemi was a firefighter with the FDNY before he became an actor, I have more respect for him than Branjelina.

Chief, I "was" a professional babysitter making sure they don't dip in the "medicine" cabinet until one of the kids decided it would be a good idea to hyperextend my knee. 40 lbs later, (started a diet last week), things haven't changed with the city. Do you people remember when NYC transit belly ached about their billion dollar deficit and they raised fares and it turns out it was really in the low millions and they never reversed the fares? And the last fare hike, they said they will put millions in the transit system to improve it? Well, just this past week, NYC transit said that they will not be able to do good on those improvements. Can you imagine getting a summons in the "developments" for riding a bike within the developments? Ever seen a riot on a 95 degree day in July and the city's solution is to write more? And yet, the city is always broke. Why do city officals, aka paper clip counters and paper shredders need a city vehicle with emercency christmas lights and city owned ez passes? I have to stop myself. I'll go rant on anther board where I am one penguin among 34,000 other penguins. Hehe.

Every babysitters dream....win lotto, walk in to one of the various many "head" babysitters office, and leave a steamy mister softie chocolate swirl on their desk. *Sigh*,.... a man can dream...a man can dream.:sleepy:
