The story of a poor little solana nano
It?s been awhile since i posted because of a fast move i had to do (do not ever live with a bipolar person not on meds lol). Anyway I wanted to share this experience just in case others should have the same situation.
The night before i left the house it was kind of normal the gf was acting physoctic again with out going into details it was a rough night. After getting up in the morning I walked into do my normal tank routine when I noticed something strange 3 empty corona bottles in the bottom of my new tank (34 gallon solana) which you could barely see because of the cloudy water. OH Yes she did! Dumped 3 beers in the tank and dropped the bottles in! Standing there for a minute I came to the conclusion to save my butt and forget the tank for now. So I was out of there!
I wasn?t able to get back to my tank for a week! When I did make it back what a mess bright green algae everywhere, skimmer overflowing into the tank, corals (zoas, open brain, closed brain, hammer frag and xenia) were still alive but looked terrible of course. So I dumped the tank water and packed up my rock and corals and brought them to my new place.
Thankfully I had a aquapod 24 up and running at the house that didn?t get a drink so I was able to use that water In the solana. I scrubbed my rock and tank with some of the water from the aquapod and used the rest to fill the tank part way. The rest was filled using a fresh batch of saltwater. I brought the tank back up to 78 and reaclamted my corals.
Its been about 2 weeks since i was able to move the tank and after many water changes and alot of cleaning the tank is starting to look half way decent. So far all my corals survied and look remarkable good for what they have gone through except one my closed brain is washed out but has shown some signs of improvement. The tank itself is doing good, It seemed to have a small diatom bloom since the cleaning but other then that it is recovering nicely.
Although I did lose a couple of fish in the move I am amazed that anything survied.
Well that?s my story sad but true. I guess the moral is Don?t mix physco GF's and Nanos lol!
