It's worth it for all the new apps you get. But it still falls short of my expectation for a high-end phone, i.e. no video camera for a high-end phone like this is really inexcusable. It does look nice though.

Btw, if anyone is thinking about updating their firmware to 2.0 I would recommend NOT DOING IT TODAY.

Essentially your phone gets backed up, deactivated, updated, restored, and then reactivated. In that order.

It looks like iTunes Store is getting slammed right now at the crucial ?restored, and then reactivated? step.

People w/ the iPhones in my office are NOT WORKING until they can get through to the iTunes store.

You know that phone looks great. Lots of great stuff for it. (Yes I am giving the cultists a pat on the back) I just bought the instinct this week and it's really cool. Are there any sites with mobile apps for these phones that are universal?

199.99 if you're a first time AT&T customer.

3 things keeping me from buying the iPhone:

1. 2 year contracts (while new iPhone comes out every year)
2. No picture messaging/video camera
3. No Flash Player

I was looking into at&t's plans. You guys with the Iphone must get hammered on the bill. Data plan plus phone plan is alot of money.

you don't have to be a first time AT&T customer...Existing customers can buy it for $199.99 as long as you sign a new 2 yr agreement. AT&T doesn't make you wait a year before you are eligible for an upgrade. You can buy any phone any time for the same price. It's one of the reasons i left verizon. My phone crapped the bed and i wasn't eligible for an upgrade. They wanted to charge me over $600 for a new blackberry because i wasn't eligible to purchase a new phone for the advertised price.

Since Apple is now allowing third party applications for the iphone. I predict a flash player will come soon.

It's actually cheap compared to Verizon's data plan.

My phone bill was cut in half when i switched from Verizon blackberry to AT&T Iphone

You'll have to see if you're upgrade eligible. Make sure to read all the fine prints:

http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/specials/iphone-info.jsp#0faqSection1

A coworker who bought an iphone in January had no problems getting his new 3G iphone today for $199 plus $18 upgrade fee. But i think if you have a regular AT&T phone the "upgrade eligibilty" rules are a bit different. It's best to check w/ AT&T like mentoned above.

Sorry for the misinformation
