Daisy's in Israel again....

Well, I've been here a little over a week now, and it's high time I post some pics already!

I managed to get to Tel Aviv yesterday --

Mostly, my aunt demanded that I get out of the school where I study from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. and have a little fun...

The sunset was incredible, I have to say, but the weather in Tel Aviv is very similar to NYC - hot and sticky - and so different from Jerusalem - dry and breezy, cool in morning and evening although hot during the day....

So the first pic is last night sunset at Tel Aviv beach. The second pic is from the Israel Museum's model of second temple period Jerusalem - right about 69 C.E.

...oh - and this one. i took this one JUST for YOU - all my MR friends who may or may not in your lives get to this place that I consider my home town -- This pic is a sight we see here and just walk right by, take for granted.

This was taken Friday afternoon. this fellow is a neighbor of mine, though I don't know him - I was coming home to get ready for Shabbat, and he was on his way to visit his parents for Shabbat outside of Jerusalem. As I walked past him, I realized that I thought nothing of the sight of him, and then I knew I had to take a pic of him for you!

I'm so jealous. My sis is there now and my mom will be soon. I havent been there in 5 years... Where are you studying? Last time I was there for four months volunteering with MDA. I was planning on moving at the end of they year but as they say in de mama loshen - " Man plans and God laughs. "

i don't think they play paintball here. I could be wrong, of course, but I think it's too close to the real thing.... they pursue other pleasures in their free time....

I'm studying at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem - pretty much every topic - Talmud, Midrash, Tanakh, teaching Israel, I guess I'm not studying liturgy this summer, and I'm not in a Hebrew class - I just force myself to speak it all the time!

yes, we plan and God laughs - and sometimes even seems to frustrate our plans, but everything has its time, and you will return when you're ready.

you know, this place has SO many cats, I don't think i've seen a single squirrel. I'll have to look harder, but I really don't think there are any of them at all!!!!! ...that's a lot of firepower for a squirrel, dont' you think?

Oh yes, the cats of Jerusalem, they are famous. There is paintball in Israel ( I did it about 12 years ago ) but I dont know if its popular. Enjoy your trip!
