The Red Sox are just as formiddable without Manny in the lineup. He was the most feared hitter in their line up. Now it's Jason Bay who sits in the 3 or 4 spot. His name just doens't invoke the same fear that Manny's did. Thanks Joe Torre.........a Yankee forever!!

How can anyone say thats a bad trade by the Sox? Manny wanted out, he hated Boston, and the Sox got a solid younger player who will hit 30Hr and 100+ rbi's this year, for 7.5 million. I always defended Manny to because he is so talented, but frankly I'm glad to be rid of him. Its still a good 3-4-5-6 with Bay Ortiz Lowell Drew. The Angels are looking pretty good, but they ALWAYS look pretty good and typically lose in the DS.

Jason Bay is a solid player, but he is not the perennial all star Manny is. Lets put it this way, you are up 3 - 2 in the ninth with bases loaded (your team is on the field), who would you rather face........Jason Bay or Manny Ramirez?

He can be an ass sometimes, but you can't deny his ability to hit. Jason Bay is a good possibly great player......but his bat is not as good as Manny's.

Somehow I doubt the yankees will pick up Ramirez...once Manny gets a taste of being in a smaller-market I bet he'll never sign with a NY team.

And just to be clear, I am a huge fan of his and think he is the best hitter in the game. There isnt a trade out there thats going to bring "equal" value for him, especially in a year when he is demanding his options be dropped so he'll be a FA in 3 months. I cant think of anyone that might bring similar production in clutch spots than Manny. But Bay is going to get more opportunities for good pitching since he isnt the only thing in the lineup to worry about like in Pittsburg.

You make sense about Bay, but he is also going to be under the spotlight more in Boston and he has to replace Manny. That's a lot of pressure to be under. He's in a big market now and on a team that's in a playoff race. He's never been in that position before.

There's no way the Yankees bring in Manny. They already have too many outfielders. They lose so much payroll in the next 2 years and I hope they stay young and grow a team like they did back in the mid to late 90's. They need to stop bringing in superstars and bring in the pieces that fit correctly.
