Red Sea research project

Hey, all --

So my cousin is about to enter his senior year of high school and has an opportunity to do a limited research project in the Red Sea. He is an accomplished scuba diver.

The question is - what might his research question be? I'm taking suggestions - it should be something he can accomplish in about 10 dives spread over a few months.

It won't be enough time to really document coral growth. He can't plant or uproot anything - has to be observation-based.

As to document coral growth, even though not comprehensive but should be significant enough if pick the right target. in a few months, coral can growth double or even 4 times the size. He can come with with a way defining the growth such base on est. weight and or just size alone, blah blah balh. If there happens to have major weather change during the period of study, he can even compare the aftermath of the change. If he is lucky enough to find the same species of the coral at different depth, he can compare the growth rates dring the period and come up with a hypothese of what affect the different rates if any.
