I have Fios. It is faster than anything out there! I work For Verizon. Also at Verizon we get points that we get prizes for referring people to the verizon products. In a nut shell I want to get some more points.

Verizon has phone, internet and TV for a low price. If anyone is thinking of getting it PM me with you name # and address I will let you know if it is in your area and have someone call you to place the order!!!! IT is available amost everywhere!!

And Yes this is A cheap Shot to get more points to get more things. In a nut shell, It's NETWORKING!!!

Thanks

Well, I keep telling Time-Warner how much i'm looking forward to FIOS, and how I'll switch as soon as its available, every time I call to complain about their lousy internet/on demand service...which is far more often than it should be....but when will FIOS be available in Rego Park?

Time Warner had fiber optic for decades.Fios is no different so says the Time Warner tech who came over.

While its true that Time Warner may have fiber optics, but it doesn't help if they have old switches and limit you to 5mbps, not to mention during evenings, its bogged down making it actually much slower because you're sharing your line with your neighborhood. Also, the Fiber Optics for Time Warner doesn't enter your house because it gets converted to copper (coaxial) wire which starts to degrade in signal much faster then fiber optics the longer the distance. (usually after 50+ ft)

FIOS will give you faster speeds for a similar price, and you get a dedicated line.

You're right but not ready to make that change over to Fios.Got enough wires all over the place already. My cables are too long and old.Started to affect the modem and the dvr boxes.Pixelation getting worse. They're doing a re-wire this week.Hopefully that'll work.

If for no other reason than what you said; why wouldn't you switch. Rewiring is going to help you only if TW uses RG-6 or RG11. If TW is still using RG59 then it's a waste of time. You should insist they run RG6, or better yet RG11 if your run is over 250'.

The issue with cable these days is that the Hi-Def, Internet, DVRs all require higher decibels than what the "old" wiring can carry. The big problem in signal loss is when we start splitting the main line coming in, every time you split you lose decibels.

I've had Fios since May for phone, TV and internet.
Except for the difference in pricing I can't say I'm overly impressed by it. I am happy not to be dealing with Cablevision anymore, and the total package price is better with Fios.

Prior to the change I had Verizon for internet service and Fios seems no faster to me than the DSL I'd had. TV (HD & 'regular' sets) also look the same as they did before.

Unless you ask them to install all new wiring - they don't. The fellow who installed it said there was nothing wrong with my current wiring (most was already the better quality wiring and the rest is buried in ceilings in the the basement) and changed a few splitters to better quality ones..but the fact remains it is still coaxial cable that runs through your house not fiber optic stuff.
The battery back up eats up a receptacle (tho it is nice) and installation takes 4 - 6 hours. The also mailed me 2 set top boxes for the TV's that I didn't chose to rent boxes for each month. Fios has already done that analog/digital switch, so the extra boxes are manadtory if you have their service.

I have FIOS for a little over a year. Previously i had cablevision which sucked arse! Pixelation, internet dropping packets which was annoying being a had Vonage for phone service. Only down part for verizon is customer service. I went out on a Friday night and the department for inside work doesnt work on weekends so i beat the crap out of the box on the side of my house all weekend long to get my service to work. The tech came Monday and said i did the right thing being the ONC was bad which BTW could have been replaced on saturday......... Other than that issue im very happy i switched and the Dolans no longer get my money for there inferior product LOL
