Hi All,

Does anyone have Fios and a linksys router?

I need some help in getting the correct setting for a linksys router WRT300N to connect wi Verizon FiOs.

I've recently purchased the linksys to replace an old Belkin 54G (#F5D7230-4). The belkin router is 3 yrs old and is being replaced. The exsiting belkin router settings are all default setting and connects to the internet without problems. When i connect the linksys router, the status of the internet connection is "connecting..." but never completes the task.
The linksys has all its defualt settings also.

can anyone give me some help.

Thanks,
Peter

More than likely yes, the default IP space the Verizon router uses is 192.168.1.x; all your cable boxes get an IP from here as well. Change your Linksys to 192.168.x.y, x can be any number other than 1 and you should be OK.

I am curious though, FIOS gives you a 4 port wireless router (the Actiontec box) why add the Linksys?

The Actiontec is the biggest POS on the planet. I am on my thrid one from Verizon. They work fine for about 6 months and then I have to reboot it several times a day to reconnect my wireless laptops. Just my two cents and thanks for letting me vent.

nope unlike DSL, you don't have to enter an acct info.

I finally got it to work, i had to change the IP address of the router, and also copied the MAC address from the old router to the new. :)

Thanks all.
