My grandmother, may she rest in peace, used to make her own fresh gefilte fish. She'd have the fish swimming in her bathtub before she made them gefilte.

I know what you're talking about. My grandmother ( and all my family from that generation ) are from the Old Country and very old school in that respect. When my mom was staying by an aunt in Israel as a teenager, she went to take a shower once and stepped into a bath full of swimming carp! I cant stand the non-homemade stuff. Gotta keep the traditions alive.
