hey all, just thought id share my recent trip on the A.T. We started from DWG in stoudsburg PA and continued north to Highpoint headquarters in NJ. which is a total 55miles and we did it in 6 days. The trail was very tough (I avg about 8 miles/day) with rock fields to traverse and high mountain climbs (1200-1680 ft). The views of the Poconos on my left and the NJ mnt ridge from were we walked were amazing, from the pics u can see from whr the sun is, which areas are which, (the sun behind me is pennsy, sun in front NJ). You will notice 3 buildings 1 is a shelter typically (which I don't use I hammock out w/sleeping bag) found on AT, and there is Summit monument and finally the Highpoint headquarters. You will also see Sunfish Pond, Crater lake, and views of the area and the trail conditions and how high up we were. The nights were amazing with overnight lows of 20F it was cold, and with the stars right on top of you was a sight...it was one of my best trips.

I have sectioned hiked all of NY and NJ with next hike from Conn boarder to Mass then to Maine to Mount Katadin....

Very cool! Thanks for the pics. Those shelters always freaked me out, I always prefer to do the same as you.

I have always wanted to thru hike but just dont have the time to stop life for 8 months. I've done a few hikes in Mass and me and some friends did some of the 100 mile wilderness in maine a few years back 25 miles in and 25 back out. It was a pretty tough hike, it rained and the black flys are unreal. Very few of the pristine lakes have fish due to acid rain, but it was still pretty fun. I have a friend on the trail now actually. Have you been to Katadin?
