Well, I got it to work.. Were on the phone with 2 hours with the verizon tech.. They said my wireless modem firmware is out of date, and have to do a update on the firmware.. and it took two hour to take care of that.. Now I am able to connect... yippie. The guy that I spoke to were helpful... I was using my cellular to call them, and got disconnected lots of time.. and he hept calling back.. :) that's what I call great service.. heheh.. Yes my wireless router is in the basement..

Btw, who's using vista here?? Does it really take about a mins to load up to the desktop?? I have 2g of memory.. before I did the update on the vista, it were about 45 second to load up to the destop, but once I did the updated, it took about 1 mins.. anyone??

Yeah thats about right. There are other factors in play here for startup time, like cpu processing speed, RAM speed (not just capacity), bus speed, how many other programs your loading on startup along with the OS, which version of Vista, etc.

Is a Home editon, that's all I know., It comes with the dell system.. But somehow once I did the updated on vista Service Pack 1, The volume icon is missing.. When I press the up/down volume.. It won't show anything.. hmmmm

Mine is fine after the last few updates. Maybe you need to back up all of your files and re-install Windows.

Almost all of the time, it takes about 2 restarts for the computer to finishs updates. You will always notice that after a major windows update, either a big package or multiple packages it will slow down at the next restart just because of background installations. Glad your back in business Snoopy, I mean Mak.

noting seeing volume icon? try this:
start-control panel-sounds and audio devices-check on "place volume..."
if its checked, uncheck it then check it back.
also check to make sure ur startup tray icons r not being hiden in the taksbar properties.

vista is a resource hog. my xp boots up in under 45sec. it also depends on how much software u have n on the startup tray among other things.

 2 hours to update the firmware. wow
i did mines in 2 minutes
