Autocad?

I'm just wondering if anyone on MR has or uses AUTOCAD. I'm in a CAD class in my HS so thats how i got introduced to it.

Use google sketch up instead...so much more pain free. I hated my CAD class

CAD has been really easy for me so far and ive been using it for about 2 months.

I have been exposed to cad since the DOS days. I prefer Cadkey.

I remember being dumb founded when we got these machines with this Pentium chip or something and just being blown away. Renderings that used to take a half hour on our old 486s were being done in seconds on the new Pentium 75.

What is it u need to know about cad. i use the 2008 cad program for design.
It works wonders for me when doing personal layouts.

IMO, laying our sketches is 100% easier for me in solidworks as i can rough sketch the shapes and put measurements down that auto adjust the sketches.

Any way you go its a pain though. One of the easiest programs to use for me from the CAD family was autosketch. Im running that and autocad LT right now for small quick sketches alongside solidworks for when i need a quick 3D mockup to scale that architecturally makes sense without jumping through the hoops that most CAD programs make you do for 3D.
