froggie

how much would the flight and lodging cost for staying in Prague? I don't need 5 stars hotel but I do need a place that's safe.

Oh take some notes for me when you are there. I wanna go there some time in the spring or the latest early summer.

Prague is awesome, I go twice a year. Do you know where you are staying? I can tell you tons of things to do depending on where you are staying and what you want to do. And yes beer is cheap and good if you stay away from most of the tourist spots...

I spent a month touring Poland back 15+ years ago during the Solidarity days. Great place ... spent most of my time in Warsaw, but Krakow was nicer.... and yes that is the place to buy Amber jewelry. There is so much history in the county .... ancient and modern (WW.2) .... you can visit Auschwitz, Jewish Getto, the Castle at Malbork, Birthplace of Chopin, Royal castle in Warsaw.....

I went to prague this past August and it was amazing! The Chech beer is very tasty! Try some absinth while your there.
I did a lot of tourist type stuff. The castles are great to check out, the old churches are amazing if you like history. I'm not too religous, but 1000,1100,1200 ad history was really cool to see. The architecture in the churches was purely spectacular.
There are a ton of little pubs with big beers for cheap prices. Food and drinks are pretty cheap on the side streets away from the main area of the city.
The women were beautiful. Go check out the famous clock tower in the center of the city. Again, a bit on the tourist side, but cool to see.
I thought it was fast paced over there. Not the glitz and glamor of NY, but people are on the move.

Thank you every one for replying. My apologies for the last response.

I will be staying in the Jerisova, Praha 4 section (???). I'm arriving in Prague on Thursday morning and will be there till Friday night.
Friday night, I board a 8-hour train ride to Krakow and will take returning train back to Prague Saturday night.
From Sunday morning onwards I will be back in Prague. Flight back to NYC midday Monday.

Looks like my schedule will be pretty packed. I'm going to try fitting in some tourist stuff like the clock tower, the castle (one of many)...and drink senselessly.

Is there a nice, romantic restaurant you can recommend in Prague?

Also, any must see Krakow places thats easily accessible by mass transit? thx.

For a romantic place I have one of 2 which are both kind of pricey but the views are amazing!!! The first is right by the clock (if you are facing the clock it is about 20 feet to the left) http://www.hoteluprince.com/terrace. Not sure how cold it will be now but I think they cover it for the winter. The other place is the Intercontinental Hotel upstairs (not to far from the clock but pricey also) Awesome view also.

Beer: U Fleku, great beer hall that makes their own beer.. Only choice is dark but it is good. http://www.ufleku.cz/en/
The PUB=Fun, You can tap your own beer at the table and rinse your glass in between and also order food. http://www.thepub.cz/ you want to go to the The PUB - Praha 1 Veleslav?nova 3, that is in your area
But the beer all over is great!!

Sights: The clock tower is a must, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and right by there is St. Vitus cathedral, the most amazing stained glass windows.., Zlata Ulice (there are so many)

Sorry for the long post but last but not least say Hi to my grandma!!! Have a great trip and if you have any other questions feel free to ask before you leave. Have a safe trip.
