Lately I have been learning more than I ever wanted to about nursing homes.
It is something we never think about unless we actually have to go there for something. Some of these places are just hell holes and I am very surprised they are allowed to stay in business, and a very good business it is.
But a few of them are a Godsend and the people working there are like angels.
My Mother who is 98 is in a good one now but she was in a place lower than Hell.
A couple of days before Halloween I complained to the administrator that they should take the head nurse on my Mother's floor and hang her outside on Halloween as the wicked witch of the west.
I never met such a ***** in my life.
And these places charge $8,000 to $10,000 a month. Yes a month.
Anyway, my Mom was admitted to one of these places two years ago when she diden't wake up one day and was given an hour to live. We got the priest and called the funeral home to order the casket and make arrangements.
She woke up in the elevator and is still living but just barely. Physically, there is nothing wrong with her and she is given no medications but Her mind is gone from dementia which is basically old age.
I think any day I will get a call that she passed away but this has been going on for a long time. She is in a wheelchair but is just about in a coma. No response at all. I used to be able to yell MOM and she would turn her head a little but now I get nothing.
I said this last year but I hope she doesen't pass away on or just before Christmas.
