I'm not sure which one I liked best. I got the extended dvds.

just curious why are you bringing up LOTR now, did you just see them all?

I love the whole trilogy and if you are a fan you need to buy the extended edition of each movie. They cut out some great parts.

My favorite movie is Two Towers. The battle seen between elf/men vs the orks is great. My favorite line is from Gimli: "I cannot jump the distance, you'll have to toss me. Don't tell the elf."

My favorite part of all three movies is when Denethor sets himself on fire (Return of the King.)

I read the hobbit, but I couldn't make it through the fellowship of the ring. I was 100 pages into the book and they hadn't left the shire yet.

:(

They are more difficult to read than most people think. I didn't read them until after the first movie came out. After I was done, I was surprised that so many people I know read them when they were young. I think if I had read them when I was younger, I would have missed a lot of subtleties and would have had difficulty slogging through the plot.

I read the hobbit once as a kid and I've read the Lord of the Rings four times. Amazing that it was published as one book, that's one long read. I like the books except for the songs he puts in, I have to skip over them.

With the extended DVDs I liked watching the extra features as much as the movies.

I just saw it was made into a musical play in London http://www.lotr.com/home/
