Some people might have experienced this type of situation before but this is just new to me. If I wasnt walking on the other side of the street, I would have never noticed.

Yesterday evening, my fiance and I were walking home on Yellowstone blvd coming from Metropolitan blvd. Usually I check up on my vehicle everyday when i get a chance but thats to see if I got a ticket. While crossing Clyde St, my fiance notices my suv and says, I see you parked on the corner still. I said, its been there since Tuesday night. Then she says, did someone hit you? i said No. When we crossed the street, to our dismay, someone rammed there vehicle into the driver side. I'm a bit saddened since liability coverage cant do anything for me. I was planning on going home tonight and filing a police report but figured that doesnt really do much. I dont know if it happened wednesday or thursday. Most likey I will get rid of the vehicle when I can.

Just blows bigtime since its gonna be cold for the next 2 weeks.
I'm gonna have to figure out how to do my errands without a vehicle.

These pics I took this morning before I headed off to work.

WOW thats a bad hit.looks like someone was racing around that corner and made to wide of a turn.i wouldnt drive the car you never know what damage it did to your axel.unfortunatly i dont think there is much u can do other than maybe someone saw and got license plate #.my father in law will never park on a corner just for this reason he will drive for hours or even park far away instead of parking on a corner..

Actually, i wasnt right on the corner. still a few feet away. The street turn is extremely wide so I figured it was a drunk driver. Its not a small 90 degree so i keep wondering how it happend.

You should have called the police as soon as you noticed it, now it might be a question as to the time duration between the incident (when you noticed it) and the time of the report. When you file the report it is going to fall under your no fault and if you have the right coverage to cover the damage you can be assured that your rates will go up because you are making a claim with the insurance agency. If you are going to junk the car then junk it and don't bother with the report.

BTW there will be no investigation so it is pointless to look for video tape or witnesses.

Yeah i figured what you say chief. I just thought if i file a report i can have it on record. I'm not filing a claim since there is no need for that. Useless basically.
I'm just disappointed that happened. Filing a report might even make the precinct aware at what happened. The Precinct in 3 blocks away from where my SUV was hit.

See the photo below where I parked.

i agree. it look like a truck hit. smaller vechile would have stop with a smaller dent. i had a sports car park on a corner once n a truck making a u clipped it n open that same corner like a tin can.
that corner should be safe from any turns, unless drunk or u turns, is pretty hard to clip.
try getting an estimate on making it drivable only. it may not cost that much.

That sucks man. I feel for you. A cab crashed into my car and dented the whole side and destroyed the electric locks and windows. The cab driver admitted to fault on the Police Report and I still only received about half the money it would cost to fix the car :irked:

i have a funny story.it was 14 years ago and i was driving with my old man who is an insane driver.i mean it i wont let my kids drive with him.anyway we were driving down a block and someone was driving slow so on a rainy day he decides to hit the gas.our block was right there ,so he is flying down the block going anywhere from 45 to 55 we come to our block and he makes the hard left slides under a caprice to a stop.he had 1 of those 2 door saturns.he looks at me and says with a dumb grin "that was dumb".my response :duh: .but he did the right thing and left a note with his info..to this day i wonder what the driver in the car he was passing thought of after seeing that.

ok chapz. seeing this is my line of work, id say a suv but more then likely a delivery truck , from what i can se you truelly only need a fender and a lamp, maybe a little pull here or there to get things lined up so things will bolt up, dount they was going very fast, dont take much when something 4000 lb's plus hits ya to do much damage, me personally i would look to see if they scraped any paint onto your vehicle { would give ya an idea of color of vehicle that did it, then maybe look around the neighborhood for a car or vehicle that color, was the rim hit ? really if ya have any questions feel free to pm me

now as for dom, if they cab had insurance repairs would have been completely covered by the insurance company, and you had the right to have it fixed where you want not where they tell you to go, besides that i would have anything fixed in the city

If you file an accident report in NY state you are required to report it to your insurance, this causes them to take notice and put a claim or note on your policy which makes your policy go up.

I decided it wasn't worth getting the car fixed. As long as I live in Manhattan and commute out of NYC M-F my car is going to get dinged up. I've been hit several times by buses, cabs and the average joe. I was going to buy a brand new car but figured one week in the parking garage and it would be scratched and dented anyway :irked:

not true at all there is a no fault law here also, if it was partially your fault then yes, and bren your insurance doesnt always go up, alot has to do with company you have and your driving record. and if you make a police report you are suppose to report it, but i have alot of customers who i tell if it involves another car to always make a report, this way it is on record in case the other party acts funny after the fact, if you have an insurance agent they will always say your rates will go up because they dont want you to make a claim, agent get profit sharing thats how they get paid and if they have x amount of claims reported through them they have less in profit sharing :shhh:

You were not clipped by a vehicle make a turn around that corner. You were hit by a car that crossed the double yellow. The car then rode up your front tire to cause the fender to be pushed up and in. Had it been a truck or car going in the same direction that you Isuzu was parked then you front bumper would have been pushed out. Also, you do realize that on Tuesday night it was heavy freezing rains all night long? So a car could have easily slid across the double yellow.
