Call the police? Your local congressman? The Board of Ed? The local newspaper to report the school's response. Walk your son to the corner with your bow and full quiver.

Best you can do is call the police, and hope there caught with the goods on there persona. Just make sure your son is not around when this is going down. You do not want these kids thinking or aware that your son snitch, last thing you want is trouble for your son.

I'm guessing you meant that they are smoking across the street from the high school, which in that case is no longer school property and they (the school or anyone from the school) can do nothing about it. I mean you could call the cops whenever you see them smoking pot, but they'll probably be finished by the time the cops got there and it would be a huge waste of time.

One thing you could do is take pictures of these kids smoking pot and find out who their parents are. And talk to their parents, at the very least if they know someone is taking their pictures there they won't be so willing to smoke so close again.

Congratulations on parenting in such a way that your 11 year old comes to you with such information. That in and of itself shouldn't go overlooked and is a very good thing. You are doing something right :)

As for what to do, the school will be very unlikely to do anything regarding what is happening around school grounds. For most districts they have little control over what is going on during school hours in the bldg.
As for who to contact, got me.. I'd think that local law enforcement would like to know, if anything maybe they'll patrol a bit more during those hours and deter the kids from smoking there while your child is waiting for the bus.

well the school just called me back.the assistant principal told me that he was unaware of the situation so he is going to put an undercover school safety person to walk around and patrol that area.as for my son yes he is a good kid who tells me everything.he and i are like best friends.and ive been talking to him about these situations since kindergarten.
