My splash date got moved back a few weeks due to a broken rear motor mount and a worn ring gear. After I pull the motor in 2 weeks, and get everything squared away mechanically, I'm hoping to be floating a week later.

Orca on the side....

Unfortunately, not on this machine. I have a 1979 20' Shamrock Walk-Thru cuddy with a 302 PCM. She was re-fitted in 2000. Her hull is kinda like a pepsi blue with a white top side. The boat looks like it just came out of the factory.

I absolutely love this boat. If not for the fact I like making runs to blue water, I would hang on to this boat forever. In 2 years or so, I'm going to move up to a 26' Shamrock, or a 29' Dyer...or something else along those lines. This is my first straight inboard and I love the simplicity of them. I'll take some new pics, or get some off of my friend's machine within the next week or so.

While the motor is out, I plan on painting the bilge and re-wire everything. I'm also contemplating changing out the throttle cable. IIRC, it seemed a little sticky when she was put away. I'm in no real rush since I'm really not a flounder fan. I start fishing hard in late April/May.

What rigs you guys/gals running?

EvMiz....
Same place as you. I come out of Bay End in Mill Basin. You got a sweet lookin' boat there. Which marina do you come out of? Lol...As soon as I saw your pic, I knew you were in Jamaica Bay.

You ever head off?

Wow its a small world... I am in mill basin too, by sea travelers, guess I will see you out there this season....I used to take my old boat to bay end all the time for repairs when I had an evinrude.
Never really go offshore w/ my boat usually just hitch a ride with ppl who have bigger boats to do that stuff, although my boat can def. make it to the sharking grounds and the mudhole. But to be quite honest I love turning left after the bridge and fishing in the back in the spring more than anything else lol Rich knows that too haha.

Lol.....I know he does. We had a few decent fish back there last Spring. I actually did a lot better on isolated pieces in the outer part of the bay. We had a number of fish over 30 pounds including a 42. Almost all were on live bunker with a few fish falling to heads.

It is a small world. I was debating putting my boat there but I've decided to stick with Harold. The fact that I have a lot of great friends there and it's only 3 blocks from my house make it irresistible.

Why hasn't Polecat joined this conversation?????????
