This thread is for those of you running Windows PC and have lost control of your environment by some form or another. Malware, spyware, virus, Trojans, and rouge programs.
I will list programs I used in the order I used them to fix Pc's when I fixed them.
If your infection does not allow the installation or running of any of these programs simply rename the exe and that should help.
If you are trying to use the task manager and you can't see the tabs double click on the top bars and that should make them reappear.
1. Fixpolicies It will attempt to fix all of your administrative policies allowing you control to make changes
2. atf cleaner It will clean almost everything including your stored passwords
3. Hijack this This software is a little more advanced and can be skipped if your not sure what you are doing but I normally remove anything under the BHo and the Hklm run that I know is suspicious if you are not experienced do not use this.
4 Sdfix It was at one time a very good fixer and some parts of it had to be ran in safe mode I have added it because it can still be of good use in case you run into older infections
5 spywareblaster It is not the best but it does get you one step closer the cleanliness bliss
6 Rougue remover this is made by a very good company and I always run it as a safe measure
7 Superantispyware One of the top antispyware pieces of software out now, but it does take a long time to scan on some computers.
8 Malwarebyte's antimalware I run this on every pc regardless. My personal favorite.
9 Combofix is good in the sense that what it or others can't fix because it is already a running process it will reboot your computer and make itself the first running process and possibly eliminate a culprit
10 dr webcureit This is a good temp antivirus
11 otmoveit It's like a janitor that comes by and cleans up all the messes after the other programs have finished. V3 is for advanced users
12 trojan remover This was the top dog it combined a few of the pieces up above and it is still useful today.
13 Comodo clean this is an ok cleaner not really necessary IMO.
After you are done you want to try and protect your pc from future threats and I recommend these
1 Spybot s&d I like it because of a little tool that comes with it called teatimer which basically inoculates your registry but it can become a nag with the popups when you are installing something you want.
2 adaware is also good and can sometimes catch things that spybot misses
3 Avast antivirus I know there are hundreds of opinions on the best antivirus I use this one because it does not take up a lot of resources and it is free and proven to be better than a majority of the popular ones No name calling
4 Comodo firewall Also a free firewall that doesn't kill your memory and is a proven good firewall. I disable the antivirus
I hope this post helps and this is true today and might not be any good tomorrow as the people trying to get in your computer always change how they try to gain access and if you are familiar with msconfig you can try to disable some of the programs I instructed you to use in the first part from starting and using all your precious memory.
I did not post direct download links as I do not have permissions by their authors.
