Since quite a few threads have come up about parking tickets and moving violations, and how to fight them, I figured I'll post this for everyone's reference. Its the NYC VTL. You can look up the infraction you allegedly violated to find out what the law really says and whether or not you actually violated it. Remember laws work on details so read the lines carefully before deciding whether or not to contest it.

That is just the NYC traffic rules. There is also the Administrative code and the NYS Vehicle and Traffic law. All apply.

Oh ok I didnt know. I've used this only for parking tickets. Where I used to work, the employees used to get many, many tickets on company cars and we usually found out when the car was towed until I started a tracking system and also started routinely fighting tickets.

Have a hearing. I happened to speak to a lawyer at school, unrelated topic, and he confirmed what Chief and others said here - the officer had to have witnessed the alleged violation to issue a summons, but some judges will on occasion still uphold it.
