Lol...Did that before. Rich and I have been friends since before I joined this site. I've fished with him a few times this past season (on both his boat and our mutual friend's).

Rich is a top notch fisherman and runs a top notch boat. I would recommend him to anyone, any day. I like the fact I don't have to act all secretive around him. Chances are, he already knows my ace in the whole drops.

Anyone down to book a Manhattanreef.com charter this Spring on the Karenann?

Eric, I usually donate a trip to MR each year although the last 2 years most guys flaked out on me. I'll set something up again this spring.

I'm hoping to sneak in a cod trip with a friend before the season winds down. Never fished cod though did a ling/sea bass trip out of Freeport earlier this year that was pretty good.

Wally....
Do you make canyon runs with your boat? I know there's a boat Wally's World I always hear about that usually gives the tuna a beatin'. That you?

Nope not me. I am strictly a LI Sound guy. Although I may trailer over to the south shore this year for winter founder, still thinking about it. Have to see what the Noreast.com reports say.

End of April will be the first bass trip!!

I have a 22ft Marathon that is awesome for fishing! 13ft cockpit which is 13ft of fishing space. Fish 4 guys very comfortably.
Not sure what the crew is going to be? I only have one real fisherman buddy the rest wait for the nice weather...

Avid, yet unsuccessful, fisherman here. I fished all my life but really didn't pay attention to proper technique and equipment until last season. I've done mostly saltwater fishing because there's no permit requirement.

I have no car, so anywhere I can take my Ugly Stik via mass transit, I am there.

I'd like to try some steam/lake fishing. Anyone can recommend a nice weekend freshwater fishing spot not too far from the city?

If u are looking for freshwater like a lake (Indian Lake) across the GW onto rt. 46 in Little Ferry NJ. U wont catch any trophie fish here but it is stocked by the state and u will catch fish. If looking for a river in walking distance of this is the Hackensack River the water is brackish hosting some very large salt water fish a guy caught a monster striped bass off the shore last year check the link im adding I lived here my whole life and even I was suprised. This is about 25 minute ride from the Bx and the bus stop is right there its the 161 or the 168 I think

It wouldn't surprise me if there is a NYS SW fishing license within the next 2 years. I know there are active talks right now going on.

Froggie....
Try Central Park. Decent bass fishing there in the Spring.

I'm going to start fishing freshwater in about 2 weeks. I normally do well in the local lakes. I only get to fish freshwater for a few weeks, then the saltwater scene starts to happen.

Wally....
I'm familiar with Marathon boat makers. In fact, I owned a 19' Marathon I/O. Right now I have a 20' Shamrock. I fell in love with the inboard design. I've even taken her 30 miles off for tuna.

Since there are a bunch of fishermen here, I was wondering what's your favorite set up (boat/beach/offshore/etc.).

For fluke, I like the Calcutta 50 on a Loomis IMX.
Bass, I like the Shimano Torium 14 on a Shimano Trevala.
In the surf (plugs), I use either a Van Staal 200 or 250 on a 10' Ron Arra.
For bait (surf), I use a 10' Lamiglass 1 piece with a Newell R220.

Now I know I'm getting cabin fever. I started playing with my gear today......and I mean fishing gear...lol.

Where is the Hackensack river exactly? I've never seen it here.
Also anyone want to teach me how to fish freshwater? I have a rod and everything but never seem to have any luck.
Any good charter boat fishing places in Jersey?

Kill, most of the good charters are in southern jersey.
2 boats that stand out in my mind is Adam bomb fishing charters
and Karen Ann II charters (I have no affiliation)

As for the cabin fever, this has been the first winter that I probably don't have the fever. I have been codfishing in Montauk every week since the run began. It really has been truly spectacular fishing. It's starting to wind down a bit now but is still very good. I would definitely recommend a trip on the viking before the winter run is completely over.

What do you want to know about freshwater fishing? You interested in largemouth fishing? What kind of rod/reel do you have (spinning/conventional). In Queens, there are a few places. I haven't fished there in a few years, but Kisena Park used to have some monster carp there. I've also caught some decent bass there. Not sure what's going on there since they re-did the lake. Why go to NJ when there are plenty of places here in NY? What kind of charter are you looking for in NJ? There are a lot to choose from.

Oh cause I live in Jersey Now, haven't updated the profile. It's not real yet if I don't update my profile. Live in Maywood NJ.

Need to learn technique and stuff. I've been freshwater fishing a bunch of times and i've never caught a single thing. Kinda counter balances my Saltwater fishing luck and catching something everytime my bait hits the water.

And I have a rod that I bought at Target (I think) ugly stick i think, I forget. Not here with me atm, still in Queens, but can retrieve any time.
