so let me get this straight, your worker grabbed your stones and smashed them to pieces? and you let him live to laugh about it?

YES. It's only a small pcs. They throw away a lot of the bigger pcs too but I like to keep all the rubbles for creative designs before they clean the factory every night.

Think of it this way, a small live rock fell from our hands and become crushed corals, no big deal. :tongue1: Hey, I pretended I cannot lift a nail before, how can I now beat him up. :tongue1:

Wingo you should market LED under cabinet lighting :D

or better yet, instal translucent Onyx countertops and illuminate them from underneath with LEDs so they seem to glow ;)

so wait, are you the guy that hangs out at the back of a restaurant waiting for the leftovers to be thrown out?

so true. I try to build a small tank with tiles(free samples from supplier) and granite but my worker grabbed my stone and smash down to pcs(very diligently, I swear) thinking that I want pebbles out of it. In fact I wanted a slate rock background. The whole company crack up.

LOL, I don;t wait for thrown outs. I go directly to them before they are thrown out.

all my workers know when I walked to the factory side, I am upto to no-serious thing but to look up broken stones on the floor for my creative stuff. Most of them are more experienced with stone than me-one of them has been working with stone for 12 years. I better stay low profile before I embarrass mmyself. hahaha.

That is a beautiful kitchen Wing! Where do you get your granite from? I'll be calling you when I'm ready to redo my kitchen.;)
too many places, Stone and Beyond, Bed Rock International, All About Stone, UGM, China, India, Italy, Brazil. Most granite here are named with Italian names and I have a hard time pronouncing them such as Giallo... ist "Gi are lo" or "Gi air lo"? Lots of Italians and Spanish speaking people here so business to business conferrence is not a problem, we all guess at each other's words.:tongue1::shhh::tongue1:

Most people in Kansas redo their kitchens to upgrade the house value before selling them.

I understand Wing! As a kitchen designer and knowing granite it isn't easy. Best thing for anyone buying granite counter tops is to go and personally view the slabs.;) I had one vendor I use to deal with in Bklyn. on Coffey St., but I haven't been there in years. I have to look for the least expensive granite vendor due to the amount of counter top space I have to cover. I have even considered doing granite tiles to save $$, but the fact that tiles are so much thinner then an actual slab makes me quite nervous.
Also, don't remember which granites are the most proun to imperfections such as voids that are filled by the manufaturers with silicon which I do not want.
I saw a beautiful slab at HD the other day called "Forest Green" that I am trully leaning towards, but would DEFINITELY not purchase from HD. They're price is $87 per sq.ft..
My old kitchen I did with Sun Cabinets that I purchased from a friend, but he is no longer around. Do you have any idea where this manufacturer is located? Not high end cabinets like those in your pics, but well built non the less.;) And of course the price was very nice. Who in our corner of the states would you recommend for granite as well as cabinets?

Not redoing the kitchen for resale.;) Just need a kitchen that I am not disgusted by every time I walk in it.LOL

And Giallo, I believe is pronounced "G" "A" "LO". I could be wrong, I'm not Italian.lol

Gorgeous room! I couldn't be happier with the Granite coutertop we choose to make our kitchen complete during the re-do. Awilda, going and picking the slab yourself is the best option. Too many people look at a 12x12 sample and say "that's what I want" but the variations can be incredible once you go larger than that small 12x12 square, leaving many disappointed with the final result. I think that is why I love Granite so much because of all the variation in the stone itself.

I can't for the life of me remember what the one we picked is called, but it was a long almost scientific type name. LoL.

Good luck on your ventures Wingo ... and all your little creations ;)

You can see slabs t Daltile in Phili where I can order the slab you picked from them. Check the website of DalTile, may be you can find something before going in there. I will have "Blanks" pre cut stones from 26" to 36" depth in Phili soon. As for cabinets, I can handle it directly here in New York-I carry both low end to medium end ones. I think Sun Cabinet is the one who use to sell to HomeDepot. If so, I can find out the info for you. I may know the their factory in China adn then the US rep nowadays.

Syb, is your's the "Shivakashie"? Not sure on the spelling.;) I had picked out my slab for my old kitchen in my old house and always tried to get all of my customers to go and see their slabs. I used the small samples to see what colors peeked their interest.;) I hated when a customer would refuse to go and pick out their own slabs, because they would always come back with some damn complaint.lol
Wing, that is great. I will take a looksie at the DalTIle site and get an idea of what they carry. And when the time comes I will make one of my kids drive me to Philly.;) As for cabinets I'm not sure on which way I want to go. First I have to decide on how long I plan to be in this house. I'd love to stay for ever (since I hate packing), but I must be realistic.;) If we make the decision to make it a long time then my choice is more then likely going to be Hickory wood cabinets. If not staying a long time the choice will be between Maple or Oak.
I don't believe HD ever sold Sun Cabinets as the cabinets I got from my friend were ALL wood and HD's cabinets are not. Only all wood cabinets you can get through HD are special order. The instock cabinets have solid wood doors, but thats all.
I'd much prefer to go to Loews then HD if it came to that.

and all your little creations ;)
This is one example what I did and you can do it too.
Many clients brought a sample tile or two from my supplier and left them to us. Since it's only one or two pcs of that kind there is no retail value nor is it even good for showcasing as there is no organization from these pcs. So What I did is I find the ones that are not slippery like slate and silcone the bottom with the soft matt that people use in the drawer to drian wetness. Now I got myself couple hot pot matts where I can sit my hot pot on the dinning table.:chefico: I should market this. :shhh:
