I turned it off after the 2nd goal. I knew it wouldn't be their night after Lundqvist gave up that goal on an impossible angel.

I thought it was the right move to send a message to him. But the Rangers will not win this series without him in the lineup. Make Voros the healthy scratch and get Avery back in there. He hustles and gives it his all. He just sometimes makes dumb plays.

i agree . he is a huge asset to the team but on the other hand those dumb plays hurt the team. they need him on the ice .

Once again, the refs play a huge role in the loss. Another non call leads to the Caps first goal. Seriously, does the NHL really need Ovechkin in the 2nd round that bad? How about the check to Avery in the 1st period behind the play and right in front of the referee........with NO call. I know he's a D*ck and all, but you have to make that call.

anyway, entertaining series. Thankfully the Devils lost too.

Bah...they lasted longer and tougher in this game then I'd thought...but Avery really can't get any calls...not saying that's a reason they lost, but it would be nice for a little love for Mr. Avery.

i actually had to leave the room after that hit. my 4 year old was watching it with me , and he saw how pissed off i was getting. he may be an ass but he still is a good player and gives his all every game

Really, it's sad. He never did anything to a referee that should stop them from making calls when he gets hit illegally. He got hit at least 4 times this series where penalities should have been called and nothing, not once. Not to mention that Brashear hit on Betts that also didn't get called. Just goes to show how much influence the front office has. They need their golden boy in the 2nd round cause now Ovechkin and Crosby go head to head. That will draw ratings. I really wasn't ready to stop watching hockey.

At least the Yankees won tonight.

The Avery benching was stupid ESPECIALLY after Tortorella himself lost his cool. How can someone who is supposed to be coaching guys on how not to take stupid penalties do what he did? Yeah Avery took some stupid penalties but did they hurt the team? Yeah it was dumb especially with the game close but u gotta live & die with that crap from him. The NYR record with & without him in the lineup speaks volumes. But its not like he was going to be a difference maker any way. They have NO natural goal scorer. Zherdev was invisible for a month Antropov didn't do anything. So who else is gonna score on this team? They need to go get Gaborik. Gomez & Drury were both mistakes. They should've signed one or the other not both. Neither are a goal scorer they are play makers. How can they make plays when no one knows how to put the puck in the net? Another disappointing year & I'm a season ticket holder. Good thing I didn't waste my $ on playoff tickets. The NHL wanted all along Cindy Crosby & Alexis Ovechkin matchup from the beginning. Avery gets pummeled & the refs don't call anything but the minute he does something all 4 blow their whistles. What a joke. Then Brashear cheap shots Betts and all he gets is 6 irrelevant games. Meanwhile this is the same a$$hole who got whacked in the head with a stick by McSorley on a cheap shot you would think he would learn. The NHL is an embarassment.

Avery was benched before Torterella threw water at the fans. The Rangers were outplayed for 6 or 7 games and lucky to be in the series but the referees were completely lopsided. The NHL suspeneded Brashear 6 games for that hit, but did they discipline the referees for not making the call??

I am calling for all Rangers fans to not watch the Caps / Penguins series and hopefully the ratings will suck.

Yeah Avery was benched b4 Torts but he still didn't deserve to be benched especially from a guy who doesn't know how to keep HIS cool. I don't think they were outplayed in 6 games that's baloney. Avery & Henrik were the best players in last nights game were they not? The 3 games they won they weren't outplayed. They actually played well and last nights game they played their hearts out but one flukey goal and then a great one by Fedorov was the difference. If they had a guy who knew how to put the puck in the net they win the series.

I watched every game, the caps were faster, and shot the puck more. I agree Henrik was the best player in the series, but Ovechkin was all over the place creating opportunities. The caps were younger and faster and just better. If the Rangers have a scorer, they do win the series, but if they don't have Henrik making amazing saves, they lose the series in 5 games. They were outplayed most of the games (not last night) and Henrik was there to save the day.

That makes no sense. How can a team be outplayed and win 3 games? I saw every game too. Yeah Ovechkin was all over the place but didn't he score 50+ goals & was held to how many??? U don't get outplayed & win 3 games & hold an mvp to 3 goals in a 7 game series. Great players rise to the occasion & henrik did in 3 wins. That's what great players do. If anyone on that caps team deserves the recognition of being a difference maker it sure as hell wasn't Ovechkin start by saying it was Varlamov the goalie.

You can easily get outplayed and win. You can get the right bounces or have one player just be phenominal. Just because you win doesn't mean you outplayed the other team.

You said it yourself, the Rangers outplayed the Caps last night.........did the Rangers win???

Rangers got NO lucky bounces in those wins. Didn't the Caps get one last night when the shot went off a stick then off Cally? Just because Ovechkin takes 50 shots doesn't mean they were outplayed. They did their job in holding him to 3 goals. If I bet u $1,000,000.00 & told u that Ovechkin would have only 3 goals u would take the bet & say he would have more. They did their job as a team. Unfortunately Washington got a lot of calls their way the Rangers got none besides the fact that they couldn't hit the side of a barn on a slap shot.
