Hey Kris, i've got a really nice size Japanese Lace Leaf Maple. Much larger than you're looking for. I've been wanting to try to propagate a graft from it for years. How soon are you looking for it? I'd be willing to attempt the graft and the offshoot would be yours. All I require is that you come here to get it and have a couple cold ones.

I don't know how long it will take the roots to sprout but I'm willing to wait if you are

R

BTW, a Japanese Lace Leaf Maple grows very low to the ground. Much different than a Japanese Maple. So I'm not even sure if this is what you'd want. LMK

Looking for something around that size, larger is fine but not much larger :) Would rather watch it grow:D

Chem, thats way out for me, but thanks a million for trying to help me out :D

Kat, I posted a couple links for size reference :)

George, How ya been buddy?
The side of the battery in the city or in brooklyn?(Am i even thinking of the right tunnel) My moms been wanting to go to that ikea and its not far from me at all, so maybe I'll take the trip with her this weekend and see what turns up.

Russ,
That would be AWESOME! I love the look of those if this ( http://www.hillslandscaping.com/Pictures/Plants/images/Lace Leaf Japaneese Red Maple.JPG ) is the type you're referring too :D I'd surely find a way to get out to you :)

Last year my girlfriend would bring me clippings of japanese maples in the hopes that I could root them. She's not a fan of plants but she knows how I am. I had no lucky with many tries :(

Did I mention you guys ROCK!

Yep, that would be the one. It's a very interesting way to get a graft of this kind of tree. I need to take one of the branches that's growing close to the ground, then bury the middle of that branch. The end that's exposed to the air continues to grow normally. The buried portion will hopefully sprout roots in the ground. Then I have to clip/prune the part of the branch between the original tree and the part of the branch that's buried.

Damn that confuses me. Hopefully it was clear to you.

Like I said, I have no idea how long this can/will take.

Russ

Kris, I have a HUGE one in my front yard and every year I have several saplings that take around the yard. Most I mow over, but some take in areas I dont mow and grow pretty well. I've given a few nice ones away to family members. If things fall through with Russ, I'll see whats growing in my yard and youre more than welcome to it.

The only thing you win is a GPS frag that will quickly take over your tank the same way I quickly won this competition. Besides, everyone knows Long Island grown Japanese Maples are much nicer then cheesey upstate ones!

LOL, and are your GPS frags original Garmins? My GSP's are originally from the sea. I hope you do better than that with your Japanese Maple and don't give Kris an authentic Sugar Maple from Vermont :splitspin

I win.
