so im doing a building in lower manhattan 1 block away from ground zero when around 9:30 10 oclock a freaking 747 with 2 fighter jets lagging behind come flying right over our heads.everyone immediatly thought of the worst.then find out it a photo opp for the white house.DUDE do they realize we are still scared of what happened 8 years ago.what retard decided to pick a monday morning at the same time our towers were destroyed.is anyone else pissed off at this.i mean they evacuated the building right around that area today and everyone was real upset..good going guys..another brilliant move

I work at the tip of Jersey City, we face lower manhattan and the statue of liberty. I heard an unmistakable sound of a jet engine fly by, sounding really low and close to my building. I run to the south window and see a low flying plane hooking a u turn out near the Verrezano bridge and start heading north. The thing was headed straight at my building and made another left turn when it was about 200 - 300 feet from my building. I bolted for the stairs. 15 minutes and 37 stories later I was on the ground and the plane was gone. That was scary and I don't like to be a conspiracy theorist, but that whole "photo op" thing sounds like a cover up to me.

Aides to President Obama, who was not on board, said he was incensed when he learned of the event Monday afternoon. The White House later issued a formal apology.

I had not seen the video until just now, wow that is a scary scene. We are so vulnerable. I dont believe that the defense dept would not advise NYC about the low fly over, especially in lower Manhattan. Thats nonsense!!!!

Just think of how much fuel they wasted flying a 747 and a F-16 (the press reports there were 2, but as a witness to this I only saw 1) from Andrew Air Force Base to NYC and back.

I used to be in an Air Defense Artillery unit and I can understand from their side why they didn't want the info released as any aircraft that low is HIGHLy vulnerable even to the most simple weapon systems like an RPG, but it's still a load of BS that it was even entertained in this financial climate. What a waste and they claim he had no idea....

August 30th, 2007, we have a B-52 armed with nuclear missle flying over our heads without apparently ANY high officials' authorizations or knowledge. The more interesting thing is that one of the real warheads were mounted on the pylons that can be launched after airborn. Such B52s are supposed to be allowed to airborn (1)ONLY with higher level officials' OK. (2)The mounting of the nuclear bombs are supposed ONLY allowed by higher officials too. (3)Finally, the computer system that suppose to track our nuclear warheads do not warn us about one of them is moving not according to schedule either. Well, apparently, not a single high level officers knew about it until it was reported by the land crew who noticed there is a REAL nuclear bomb on the wing and has flown right over our heads in peace time. All kinds of mistakes could have happened and not everything our presidents will know about it. IMO, photo op seems micro management for a President. However, the execution of this op is definitely a bad judgement for whoever authorizing it.

It's amazing that we could have nuke ourself and receive less media coverage than possibly Air Force One running into New York's building.
