I just had the hardest, longest test of my life and thank God its over. I just took Step 1 of the USMLE ( a cross between the Bar exam and SAT's for medical school ). Its an eight hour exam that covers everything we learned ( or are expected to have learned ) over the past two years as well as our ability to apply that to problem solving. Now I can relax for a week. I have to think of an appropriate reward for myself....

Good job jejton, I can't take standardized tests like SAT's... I just don't perform to my ability... had to take it 5 times to combine scores so that I could get into my first choice, but it was all worth the struggle and frustration now.

US Medical Licensing Exam
There are four exams you have to take before you can be a fully licensed doctor in the US. Well really three but one is a two part exam. The first one is between your second and third year, which is what I just took. Its required by most schools that you pass it before you can start your clinical years - that is when you start rotating through the hospitals doing the hands on learning and gaining experience in various fields so you can better make a choice of what you want to do. Its also the only one who's score actually counts, while the others its important just to pass. This one weighs heavily on what specialty and program you will be eligible for residency.

Thanks for the thoughts. I do plan on getting some frags when I have a chance to clean up my tank. I took my exam relatively early compared to others so I had a week to relax and went to AC and also saw South Pacific at Lincoln Center. It was great to just be able to not have to read anything for school or wake up too early.

BYU - I take it you are an upper classman or resident?
