So most of you already know I have the chance to go to Hawaii coming up, which means I would be gone for a week. Recently my uncle has been helping me get my foot in the door at a company and sent my CV/Resume directly to the head of the HR department.

Here's my question...lets say the lady in the HR department decides I'm qualified enough to get an interview, BUT she wants to meet when I'm supposed to be in Hawaii.

Do I ask her to make a different interview date? (How much could this ruin my chance of getting the position?)

OR

Do I not go on vacation, cause the opportunity may come knocking? (Given how rough the job market is, especially for a recent college grad)

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I agree, your family planned this vacation a while ago and you will only be gone a week. You are available any other time to meet.

Go and enjoy yourself.

Kris,
I see it a little different,
You have a job interview (that may have taken some politics just to get)
forget Hawaii for now & go to the interview.

Kris,

I have to agree with reefnewbe. Professionally you should not change a date of an interview if you are dealing directly with the company (like in your case). If you were dealing with a headhunter than you have some flexibility.

job interviews r usually sched within 3-4 days advance in order for you to get prepare. as long as u check your voicemail n call back to arrange a suitable date, it shouldnt affect your chances.
