Spoiler alert
I love the series and avoided this thread so as not to read a potential spoiler. I've read all the books twice.

I thought the Half Blood Prince was great up until the last 45 minutes or so. At that point the movie took a horrible turn. The fight scene in the book was incredible. In the movie there was really no reason whatsoever to have Malfoy assist the deatheaters into Hogwarts. There was absolutely no fight.
If you remember, in the book, the students, teachers, and the order of the Phoenix members all came together to fight the deatheaters. Yes, the results were the same, Dumbledore died. However, this was the part of the movie to really bring everything together. When viewed in IMAX 3D this scene could have been amazing.
In the movie, Dumbledore 'explained' to Harry that he could apparate within the Hogwarts grounds. Now if you're a true Potter fan this took liberties that were ridiculous. Nobody was able to apparate in the books (the true story).
Wizards possess magical powers. What was the reason for burning down the Weasley's house and having them stand there all sad? Couldn't they 'rebuild' it with their powers? At the very beginning of the movie Dumbledore restored the wrecked and disheveled house of Professor Slughorn. Seems like a totally wasted 10 minutes in the cornfield if you ask me. Besides, I don't recall a cornfield scene in the book.
Was the movie put together well? I guess it depends on who you ask. Did the director take literary license? Sure did, to a whole new level. Changed what I thought was a really important part of the book and just left it out. I was so totally looking forward to the fight scene and they ripped it out. What a travesty.
I hope this movie doesn't win any awards. I'm very much lackluster about seeing the two year seven movies, The Deathly Hallows. :sad2: Using two movies and milking the viewing audience for every penny they can should mean they will do justice to the book and portray it the way it was written. Crossing my fingers.............
