If this was 10 years ago, thats one thing, but now it is crazy easy to figure out what you need in a computer. Back in the day, where the heck was wikipedia. Now you just type any unknown computer word in google and the definition comes up. I would never buy one of those kits on GP alone. Research a few weeks and you'll be good, and just start from scratch. The input devices, your screen, etc., those things you can recycle if you want but the stuff in the box usually needs to be updated. Especially if your trying to play the current days games. If your just surfing then nah.

To make it easier. Go to this page,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustVoteProductWinner.aspx

and put everything on your shopping list. But get a gtx260, its $160 now. You could buy 3 and run them in sli and kill a 295 and it would still cost less. I would still probably buy a 295 over 3 260s because of water cooling but still general principle dictates consideration.

Then check this page before you buy

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/How-To,4/Build-Your-Own,16/

and after you read for a few weeks, ask some questions on this forum

http://www.hardforum.com/index.php

Has to be one of the coolest forums I've been to.

That will pretty much get you going. Tom's hardware is just picking out parts but you need to get a feel for what manufactures you would like best. Also, for me the first thing I thought about when building my pc a few months back was sound. To me sound is one of the most important things to consider. Do not get a creative labs sound card, that company is a joke. For games people like the auzentech forte but for me the asus xonar essence is the ****. But thats because I like to use headphones and listen to music from the computer. The essence has a wicked amp for headphone use. It took me a while to figure out my headphones but I went with DT880 from Beyerdynamic. Some may think worrying about sound is excessive but listen to crysis or your favorite song on my rig and you'd understand. Since I wanted good sound, I needed a clean powersupply, so I went with an enermax revolution 1050W that I got a crazy discount from newegg on a few months back. If not I would have gotten an antec signature 850. But corsair's powersupplies are cheap and extremely good. Whatever you get make sure its rated for a lot of watts even if your not going to use them, it will perform better in that situation.

For me the case and powersupply are the hardest choices because if your get good ones, they can last you for several builds. Picking out a case took a long time for me.
