That's OK. It's about time we put it away. Separate church and state everywhere. Religion is dividing this world more and more every day. People can have any belief they want, but don't judge because others don't believe the same.

it isn't judging, this country was built on this, people want thing's equal, as long as equal benifits them, I am PROUD to be an AMERICAN, reguardless of what my nationality is, i personally think they ought to ban people flying any other flag but the AMERICAN flag in AMERICA. we have already bent over enough to satisfy everyone, why should we change our history.

"Since the colonial beginnings of the United States, citizens of this nation have officially acknowledged their dependence on God," said Brownback in a news statement reported by Baptist Press. "It is important that our national motto, 'In God We Trust,' is prominently displayed on all of our currency. We should not relegate our heritage to the side."

Hmmmm on none of the money does is say a spacific "GOD". so i dont see how religion get's put int it. any way foreiners come here for THE MONEY their country dont have and send it back there so religion and state are already seperate.... thats not a viable excuse! i think it is more because of the people that are sensitive and think "god" only means of the catholic religion. just my 2 cents but also makes sense

Banning the display of every flag other than the USA's... I cant think of anything more un-American... The day America says its ok to tell people they no longer have the right take pride in there heritage, is the day America goes against its most valued philosophy. That all are created equal. Let us not forget that this country was built by those escaping oppression & persecution.

I'm all for the freedom of everyone. I was born an American. My father was born an American. My grandfather was a dish washer before he became a New York City police officer, before minorities were a regular part of the NYPD. I am a Gulf War Veteran. My father was in Vietnam. I am as pro American as you can get! My opinion is, Appreciate the freedoms, and opportunities that America offers, but keep your religion to yourself!!! What you believe is your business, and this country allows you that. Don't pass judgement, or hate because the next guy doesn't agree with you!!!

See, the thing is, pretty much all of our founding fathers rejected a dependence on god; most of them were Deists. The reason that "In God We Trust" was placed on the currency was basically a letter-writing campaign, not a matter of directed national policy. (See http://www.ustreas.gov/education/fact-sheets/currency/in-god-we-trust.shtml )

Similarly, the whole "under god" thing in the Pledge of Allegiance was put there in the 60s.

listen i am not trying to make it a religious matter. my family tree dates back to late 1700's in america, and actually earlier because grandmother was half cherokee. i understand change, but this is part of history. without history the future means nothing. the flag comment was meant in i see so many flags on peoples cars { not american flags } i have no problem with people being proud of where they are from, but show a little support of where you are.

Hey America is a "Melting pot" for everyone, all nationality come here to better their lives. As for the "God" on the currency, love it or leave it...It was deemed unconstitutional to have religion thrust upon individuals.
