i bought a car, and when i went to go sign it, i had a faulty pen. So i had to over write to get some ink flow, when i went to register the car, the girl told me i cant register the car because the title looks like it had been altered. (she dint even wanna listen to my story (typical dmv employee). I cant get a hold of the person who sold me the car. so now im pissed.
any solution?

Ok bought a new car 01/15/10. Dealer was supposed to transfer plates. Six weeks later I'm riding with expired temp tag. Dealer give me run around, can I go to DMV myself and transfer plates?

Issue with that Bren is that the title isn't in his name - it's still in the sellers name. If he filed for a lost one, they would send it to the guy he purchased the car from

I know you said you can't reach the seller now - but is it possible to find him in the future (like this week), though I'm not sure what he can do aside from requesting a replacement title - but that takes weeks to get

I'd definitely ask DVM what you can do to rectify the situation.

We did it many a time with vehicle donations to the FD. After we cut them up the salvage company could not take them without a title. We filed for a lost title and got one every time.

if theres no way of reaching the previous owner get a title lean it will cost you about $250 pm me if you cant find someone to do it

same thing happened to me with the title and everything except it was with a motorcycle...took me about a month to hunt down the guy that sold me the bike and another month to get the new title...good luck!

If you can get the old owner, NY DMV will issue a new title within a week, IF you request a RUSH.

get one of them truketo's from the heights they take the pen ink off with break fluid and some other sh!t ther i had the same problem i used a red pen like a IDIOT to sign a tittle i had to hit him off wit 175$ but it was worth it got it back the next day was crazy. and thers some dude that does it on mt eden in the bx in a mechanic shop.

i think its written on the title somewhere stating the signature cannot be mess up since they dont want u to alter the name to change the title to another name.
legally the car still belongs to the seller. i hope u have proof the car was sold to u.

good tip to any1 when signing something important to do a test on the pen before signing.

Why not go back to DMV and ask to speak to a supervisor. Matter of fact you should arrange a meeting beforehand and explain the situation.

I spoke to one of the "supervisors" (probably one of the most unprofessional individuals i've ever come across), and she told me the same thing, but last night i got a hold of the guy and he's gonna order another one.

The Commissioner of DMV has a complaint department for this I believe. You should try calling them.

On the other hand glad you got in touch with the guy. That makes things easier. Good luck with your new car.
