Long story short, I have many critters in my apartment that need grass hay as a main food source. I usually buy 30 pound bales from Pelham Bit Stables, but they were were not selling any bales the last time I went up there (about 2 weeks ago) so I have been having to buy those tiny rip off bags of hay at the pet store and its totally killing me. $10 for basically and handful of hay? Its crazy. Its killing my budget. I need to find another source to get hay from.
If anyone knows where i can pick up a 25-50 pound bale of hay (Timothy or another type of grass hay, not alfalfa, and horse quality, not cow quality), please let me know!

Thanks, I am going to try Riverdale. I do have a car. I think i am going to have trouble getting it though since its before spring. I don't think the first cut has been harvested yet. Idk, I'm from Texas, I'm used to just heading out to the barn and grabbing up a flake. I'm out of my element :smash:

Wow, moved from Texas to Manhattan..talk about culture shock! :)

Can you possibly speak to the folks you used to buy from locally and ask if you can prepay for some on their next order?

There are Riding schools in Brooklyn and Queens not too far from the city... maybe they might be able to help you out. I know there is one just off the Belt Pkwy, one close to Ocean Pkwy and one close to Forest Hills in the back area behind Metropolitan Ave/Forest Park IIRC.

Yeah, its a new experience. It's different here but, I'm hoping go back home after school...but it all depends on how to job market is then...I hate the cold. Its 80 degrees and sunny in San Antonio right now.....:banghead: and I miss my horses. Oh well, someday...

Finally found some time to take a drive to Riverdale. Got 35 pound bale for $10. Woohoo!

Speaking of Riverdale, I have not seen such nice facilities since back home in Texas. Wow, I thought Pelham Bit was as nice as they came in the city, now I need some time to get back to into horsebackriding. That place is beautiful, and those horses are so well taken care of....Maybe I can bring my horse up from Texas and board her there...ah but she'd be such a baby in the cold weather. :screama:
