Changing Table Build...

Hey everyone,

As everyone knows My son little Tyler is coming real soon and we need a changing table. I looked around and couldn't stand anything we saw and decided to build my own. I know... it's kind of weird me Posting a changing table thread...LOL but I'm REALLY excited about this build!!! Giddy Up. I made it in a select pine. with raised panel sides. it will have two openings for baskets on the right, a Big Rasied panel pull out draw on the bottom and a Raised panel door on the Left for the wet wipes I will finish it off with a crown molding & a custom ogee edge molding with a 3/4 rope molding recessed into it...it will be a ONE OF A KIND!!! I can't wait!! My Wife will pick the stain

O.K, happy St PADDY"S DAY!!! I played a little hookie today and left work early, i got to listen to some Great irish Music and play with wood!! I was going to recess the rope molding but after doing a test piece i didn't like it and decided to just put it on the face of the 1 1/4 molding. What a Bit*h it was to 45 degree the rope.. I pretty much had to shape the molding by hand with a sander to get the 45 degree corner's to look good. Ya think I would get a "That a boy" from my wife...LOL. anyway here's a few pictures of today's progress. GIDDY UP!!

P.S: Phil, i didn't forget about you ...I didn'r recieve the bit's yet that's why I haven't started your canopy yet..

I know...LOL My wife doesn't want any top sides or back on it [ border along the top ] and the foot print is 19 in. deep X 40 in. wide... would fit a REAL nice 65 gallon Tank on it.!!

Just to give everyone a heads up...this will be for sale once Potty training is done..

Worked on the bottom draw yesterday and made the face frame to attach to the face of the bottom draw:

John nice piece of fine furniture excelent craftsmanship. Only question I have is dont changing tables usually have a 3 to 4 inch back and sidesplash or a lip of some sort to keep the changing pad from moving around and a little added security for the baby not to roll off. I have had several changing tables and most of them had that.

I asked my wife if she wanted the 4 in. lip around the top. She said no. I've been out of the game for 10 years and I always remember the changing tables having some kind of sidesplash's, after looking online and going to babie's r us yesterday I see they are making alot of them without the sidesplash's. I guess for the purposes of using it as something else after your done with doing baby changes.
