I like the razr. but then again it's only 2 days old so it's still 'new toy' I've been working on transferring over my numbers.
Here's the story of why I'm no longer a verizon wireless customer:
My phone's (samsung a670.) buttons are wearing out. it's from texting I guess. I have to hit the 6 key (ghi) pretty hard for it to work. I'm sick of it.
SO I called to see when my 'new every 2' date was (verizon gives you $100 towards a new phone every 2 years when your contract is about up) Mine is at the end of april. So I would be stuck with my current phone for 4 more months. I asked if they could move the date up so I could get a new phone.
"unless you're on the $59.99 or higher plan, we can't change the date for you."
may I speak with your supervisor, please.
supervisor gets on the phone
"I'm sorry there's nothing we can do. it's corporate policy."
So you're telling me that
although i've been with verizon for 5 years, and i've spent thousands of dollars with your company, since I have the $29.99 plan, I'm less of a customer and can't switch?
silence. . . "Yeah. it's corporate policy."
Well then, I guess it's time to switch to cingular
(suddenly attentive and almost snide)" you know there's a $175 early termin
aton fee. RIGHT?"
Well, $175 fee + 100 for the new phone at cingular is still cheaper than the $450 you want for the new phone."
(backtracking) "I see on your account you have the insurance. why don't you file a claim?"
there's a $50 deductible. I'm not paying $50 for a three-year-old phone. even if it's new it only has a 90 day warranty because it's probably refurbished. Besides. $50 is halfway to the new phone at cingular. I really like the coverage I get with you guys, but if you're not going to work with me, I'm switching.
"I'm sorry, I can't help you"
SO i'm now a cingular customer. When I called to cancel my verizon accout it was already done. When cingular took over my number, it automatically closed at verizon.
I'm really amazed that after 5 years with them they don't give two shits. I'm writing a letter, and sending a few copies to a few different places. Plus I'm going to post it online (names and addresses of higher ups at verizon included) in a few places so it gets seen.
And I know verizon won't do **** because I've already switched. But if even one other person goes with a different company than verizon, it's worth the effort.
Thanks for the contact jim. I'll google the name and see if I can get a corporate address.
