Brainstorm - NYC Meetup

Hey folks,

Guarda's recent "experiment" has motivated me to actually post this, but I've been mulling it over for a while. I'm not sure that I'm the person to coordinate it, but I would love to see it happen on however grand or small a scale.

So, now that I've exposed my train of thought... the concept is pretty simple. Instead of only interfacing online or when we exchange coral, some of us would meet up once in a while in a bar and just welcome new faces, share experiences and advice, have fun and get a little buzzed (but not if you're driving).

This wouldn't be about coral; we have swaps already, and they are amazing. This would be about people... and booze (c'mon, just take the subway)

What do people think? Worth trying to organize on a larger scale, or stick to having a drink with friends?

I wanted to get a poker game for a while I think Educator had one, one time. I was supposed to host the next one but things got hectic for me for a while. I figured that was a good way to get people together hang out have a few beers play a game or 2. In the company of good people everyone is a winner. Maybe this is a good idea to throw around again. I'd host one but either at the end of the month or next month. The bar thing is cool but it's also expensive and a lot of people are hurting right now. It's cheaper to just chip in for some food and beers and hang out. If people are interested let's do it.

I have a better Idea.
Lets start exercising together. Considering the weather lately, jogging wouldn't be such a good idea. So lets start a MR snow shoveling club. Each week (sometimes twice a week or more) we would all get together and shovel snow. It would be great aerobic exercise and would build strength and muscle tone.

Considering Im such a nice guy, I am willing to host theses get togethers each time it snows. We could start this afternoon. Bring your own shovel, and Ill supply the hot chocolate and coffee.
