Rod choice for kids?

my kids wanna go fishing with me,and I cannt stand them to use my rod(expensive),so Id get some inexpensive ones.
How about this solid oak rack?I find they looks good,and in lower price
If I have enough material,Id make simple rod by myself.

I'm not a fan of Uglysticks, but I can see how they'd be good for a kid. If you go to Sports Authority, you'll see loads of cheap beginner set-ups. These may not last more than one season, but they would be great starter sets for kids. If the kid really gets into fishing, then it would pay to invest in a better setup. Of course if your kid (or kids) is really young, it may actually make sense to just get cheap set-ups until he (or she) is mature enough to handle a good outfit.

+1 , when my friend took my son to an eagle scouts outing with his kids, they had the uglysticks as starter rods. I don't know much about rods but it seems like a sturdy starter set.

Ugly sticks are pretty indestructible and are cheaper than any other brand name rods. I'd go with an Ugly stick.

Just a note: the bsa or boy scouts of america is the organization, eagle scout is the highest rank one can attain in the organization. Less than 1% of all scouts earn the rank. Im an eagle and i dont mean to come off as beinf rude, its just that tgose who work for tge rank usually spend over a year planning and preparing for it. Its a distinguishing attribute that requires a ton of hardwork.

Ugly stick is the way to go. Take it from a captain with 15 yrs experience working on charter fishing boats. Once they become more knowledgeable then hit me up for some custom rods. Lol.

Ugly sticks are definitally good but are not indestuctable I've broken many of them. One last season on a est 40+ pound bass off the surf.
