Hey Pedro,

Pursuant to your recommendation to get better res vids of the fish eating (great idea BTW), I was wondering what you thought the best (cheapest) vid camera would be. I intend to mostly use this for my kids, life in general etc, but would like to double duty it on the fish vid taking.

What do you think? I mean I have access to J&R anytime, so, let me know - this is a purchase I can get quick approval from "the boss"

Thanks in advance.

LMAO Jim.

Dude i was just kidding around. It's just that i have become so addicted to HD that i want to see everything in that format. Your videos were perfectly fine for your intent. No need to go High Def unless you wanna make your own Nature episode.

I am not too familiar with the HD cams. For that you would have to do some research. I mean if it's for the family, it's a great investment. As you see, that's going to be the standard of the future.

I will look around and if i can recommend one i will do so.

BTW, are you really looking for HD or just stardard, high quality video? Also what price range are you looking at?

I think you also need to get the underwater housing to get a clearer image. I really want to see those flakes make it into the mouth. :joke: :lol2:

I'll get back to you with the info.

I have to say this got me cheered up - thanks Pedro

Seriously, my wife has been wanting a vid camera for the kids, and why not use it for other things right?

I don't know about price, but I am not looking to spend thousands - I just want decent quality vids that I can enjoy, convert etc of the kids (READ FISH HERE) and have fun with it.

So, probably under a $1000 bucks - there seem to be some nice ones out there (HD no necessary for me)

Any middle of the road ones you can recommend under $1000

Jim,

The camera's that Twinreef recommended are pretty good from what i've read. It will most likely run you $1200 from a reputable store like B&H. You can probably get it even cheaper if you shop around, just be careful where you get it. The hdr hc3 allows you to record in High Def or Standard def. It uses mini-dv tapes. Here's more info. http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-HDR-HC3-Camcorder-Review.htm

The sr1 is a hard drive based camcorder, so no need for tapes. It's like 30gb. Costs about $1500, but has a ton of bells and whistles. I would say that it's more for people who are really into videography. But hey, if you can spring it, definately worth a look. Here's more info. http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-HDR-SR1-First-Impressions-Camcorder-Review.htm

I don't think the prices they list on that article for the sr1 is the same as for the sr100. Keep that in mind.

Try to zone in on what media you want to use too, that will make the choice easier. Let me know if you need more help.

The SR1 and the SR100 are two different cameras, hence the price range that i listed. Just for a comparison, here are the prices from B&H.

SR100 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=418498&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation

SR1 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=446810&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation

I think Jim will be fine with the SR100 since that seems to fall into the price range that he is looking for.

Oh my, that's a good thing, i can unload the clip, LOL. I was mentioning about putting the cam on the fish, not the food or the fish eaten. I don't know where the A-hole came into the picture. LMAO. Stop thinking all perverted Russ! :smash:
