It keeps nipping on their mantles and they don't stay open and eventually starved to death.

Rabbit fish don't eat corals, outside of the Magnificent Foxface, which will pick at polyps. Otherwise they're the same as tangs.

They do need a good size tank and they get pretty large, are very active and skiddish. A big algae eat, very good for a reef tank.
