While I was looking at some old scuba photos I took last year i figured I'd share these. The more colorful angel was much harder to photograph so the first photo sucks. This couple was probably 3 feet and I'll be back to check on them next week!

Olympus C-4000z with a PT-010 hosing and no external strobe. I shot these at a site called "The nursery" near Tortola in the BVI. The site is shallow around 35-45' max but is a long reef close to shore. The shallow depths allow long dives on a single tank we regularly dive here for over an hour on a single AL 80 (which is good for a gas hog like me).

Also the shallow depth allows a lot of light for no strobe shooting.

I flooded that housing though and sold it all off. I have a 300D now and will get a ikelite housing/strobe combo at Christmas time, it's too bad I won't have a camera for this trip but I might rent one anyhow.

Poor you! Actually, I can commiserate... I have the 5050z and Oly housing and fear every time that I'm likely to destroy a $600 camera. Sounds good... I need to find a place I can dive shallow and stay for an hour or two to practice my photography.

BTW- I hear a slice of apple is key for getting angels like those to come near enough and face the camera... they love them but other fish don't so it keeps shots clear.

Dive on.

Wade, could this be a way to get angels to eat in an aquarium when they're not interested in anything else?

Peace,

Chip

Good question and certainly worth a try... never thought of that before. I don't know how it would work on centropyge species, but supposedly the larger angels really like it. Since you work at a store, you should give it a try and see how it works. Use really thin slices that they can get ahold of....

Just regular apples? Any particular type used that you know of?

I currently have a Red Sea Majestic that is not eating, despite my efforts.

I will experiment when I know what apple to get. :)

Peace,

Chip

Try a red one. :)

Not a clue, the photography book I was reading didn't say. Go for whatever is fresh at the grocery store.
