Been messing around with my camera trying to get my camera, a Canon Powershot A60, dialed in. Since I had today off, I took some shots in the garden. Here is the best I can do. How do I get the blacked out background, and my colors to be more vivid. Please, any help is greatly needed. Thanks

Outdoors, it will be very hard for you to get black background since the lighting is too intense and universal to create that effect.

I suggest shooting photographs mounted on tripods or at least monopods. Your image is a little soft; good support systems will help give the image more definition and snap.

That image is plenty colorful to me :) You can edit the vividness of the photo with Photoshop. I recommend adjusting curves to give images more "umph." Here is an outstanding article on what curves are and how to adjust them: http://luminous-landscape.com/tutorials ... imer.shtml
