I saw a number of Olympus users entering gorgeous pics in the past contests with much better cameras than my olympus 3.3 mega pixel.
I cant figure out why my pictures come out so dark and wondering if you other olympus users cant clue me in on how you do it. Is it that your just using a better model or are there some manual settings that Im neglecting to adjust?

I thought this would be a great picture but I have to lower the aperature so low so all of the highlights on the xenia etc. wont get blown out. That and Im adjusting the photo on a laptop lcd screen which looks fine but when I get to my work computer and check out the pic I posted it looks so dark.

Anyone know of any setting with the olympus c3030 that would allow my pics to come out bright and clear without the the sand and highlights getting blown out?

You also need to adjust your moniter to match the correct color settings. If you are using photoshop there is a spot of the program to do this.

If you had to lower your apature couldn't you just decrease your shutter speed to make up for the lost light.

FWIW, I use a c-4040 for a few years untill my housing flooded. It was a great camera....

For the record.....I like that image. The darkness adds to it's dramatic feeling. Nice shot IMO. Don't see a problem with it. You could lighten the clownfish up just a tad if it bothers you...but as a photographic image...it's fine.

Sometimes you can push the limits of the digital camera and try all the tricks in the book and still get a dark image because of lighting situations and speed of object trying to be photographed. Then image correction can be played with in your photo edeting software. Most simple edeting programs have adjustments for brightness and contrast. Some more advanced programs feature other helpful tools. For example in Photo Shop you can use the Dodge / Burn tool ot correct for light and dark images. Look into post photograph techniques to also enhance your images.
