I need advice for getting memory for my Cannon Rebel. Should I spend more money to get faster memory just get any off the rack CF card? I do like to take sequential pictures sometime and like to have the option to snap consecutive pictures.
I have no idea the time the camera needs to record the pictures at full resolution. Can somebody who is familiar with the camera help me with this?
Thanks
Minh

I have several different cards, some high speed, some 'regular' CF cards, and I haven't noticed any real differences in write time.

Also, I'd recommend getting a couple smaller cards (256 or 512) rather than spending for a bigger card. CF cards rarely have errors, but if you do have a CF card go bad, it won't take hundreds of photos with it. The largest card I shoot is a 512, the rest are several 256s.

Thanks John. Several people have give me the same advices. I think the limiting speed here is the camera not the card.
Thanks

Yes, the read/write speeds of the 300D is the limitation. The high speed cards won't yield any noticable improvements, but you might want to consider them anyhow in the event you may upgrade your camera at a later date.

Agreed. The 300d has a burst of 4 frames. After that, the camera must write the images to the card before it can burst any more. That was one of the deciding factors for me to upgrade from the 300d to the 20d. I can burst pretty much until the card is full. Technically, the buffer is 9 frames, but the writer can usually keep up with it--I've bursted 40+ frames with no noticeable delay already. :D
