Has anyone used a tilt shift lens for macro reef shots? It seems like the best set up with such large DOF and for top down to compensate for the angle . I am thinking of getting a 20D and the 90 TS lens ........or the Finepix S2pro S3pro and the 85 PC nikkor . Any one used this type of glass?

The main problem is these aren't macro lenses. But it would certainly make for a very interesting and useful perspective and DOF control. I've played only with the wide angle Nikon PC, and they're very unique and nicely built. I could never justify the high expense for them though.

Why is it that you feel these lenses are not macro? The 85 PC nikkor is called a "micro" I have held it in a camera store ......it sure focuses well a foot or so out. I think this type of lens could capture an SPS coral in all its glory .......with every polyp on the entire colony in crisp focus. But be for I lay out the bucks ......I would love to hear from someone else that has used this glass over or through aquarium glass. I think Im going to have to take the plunge {not the lens every Please!} and buy one . Its an uneasy feeling though spending more on one lense then on the DSLR camera body. 8O
