I am new to reefs.org and am currently competing in the nano build off. Very cool contest.
Anyway, this is my 58 gallon wall unit that I've been working off and on for the last year.
The lighting system is a 250 watt HQI pendent with electric ballest.
Overflow is an Amiracle
Sump is a modified 20 gallon All-Glass w/ Quiet one 3000

Thanks I only had about 48" of space to work with. The 58 gallon worked well. It got a warm reception at the Wichita Reef Club meeting in January. Can't wait to get fish in it.

Any plans for more LR or just the one side? Lots of fish will want rock work unless you plan on free swimming fish...which I've learned are fish that are too big to go in rock work and schooling fish. Almost everything I've seen like the security the rocks hold except puffers and lions which mostly suspend themselves in the water.

I'm planning on fillingthe tank. I'm waiting on epoxy from www.petsolutions.com. Gonna build the top part of the rock formation you see in the photo. Next I plan to fill with Tonga and fiji LR. Gonna do a mated pair of Yellow maroons and some exotic corals.

I am excited to see the progress. It is way cool being cut into the wall the way it is. Please keep the updates coming!

Looks awesome. I as well have in mind (someday w. a 200gal) a similar approach having the face and side viewable. Love it looks awesome...man now I just have to do it ehhe.

What room is on the other side of the wall may I ask?

The room to the east is a down stairs bathroom. There is nothing to the back of the tank. Becasue the tank is in the basement of my home. Wichita, KS aka. tornado alley.
The tank is ventilated top and bottom by a series of fans. There is no mold and the temp stays at 78 with the MH running 12 hours a day.
I run through over a gallon of water a day so an RO unit is pretty essential. Plan on an auto top off system this year when I figure out how the darn things work.

Pic shows the cut in vent for all the air circulation needed to keep mold out and everything cold.

The fan to the left is a crap fan that I had laying around. It will soon be replaced with something thinner. The fans to the right are computer fans hooked up to an AC power adaptor. There is also a fan in the middle of the lower and upper chamber of the wall encloser to move the hot air from the bottom of the unit to the top. Hot air rises but gets trapped in this case.

Epoxy is expensive!!!
I got the left side of the tanks rock formation built up. Placed each rock by hand. LEt set for a couple days and moved to the next.
The rock in the center of the tank is for my nano tank in the nano build off contest.
