When I head to Hawaii in October for my honeymoon, of course I plan to take craploads of pictures. Problem is I only have a 128mb on my SmartMedia card. I was thinking about taking all the pics at 1MP to get 4x6's developed, then if I want any enlargements, take the 4x6 print and scan it in at a high dpi resolution. This way I'm fitting a lot more pics on my card while I'm out the for the week, and still can get a larger pic developed if I want.

OR, should I be safer w/ the 4x6's, take all the pics at 2.0 MH, and lug a laptop with to dump them onto mid-week?

My camera only goes up to 2.0MP and I bought the largest card I could find in the SmartMedia format. Time for a new camera, huh?

For $25 or so each, I'd buy a couple and not worry about it. Shoot your pics at max resolution. You'll never get as good of an image scanning a print later.

Remember, you can always go through and delete the pictures that suck while sipping tall frosty umbrella drinks beside the pool. . .

I agree, shoot at full resolution. The idea with the laptop is not too bad, I'd do that if I were you. Hell, I did that last year.

Or find an internet cafe or someplace with a USB port and just email them all to yourself, make sure they have a high speed connection becaust at 128MB it might take a few minutes ;)

OK, if you really don't want to take your laptop and you don't want to buy a new flashcard, still the best bet is to go full resolution and the lowest quality (largest compression). That assumes that your camera has controls for it. This will results in images smaller but better quality than shooting at half the resolution on high quality. (Sure, it can be argued that depending on the specific camera settings this may not be true but I believe that is true in the vast majority of the cases.)
