I am thinking of both of these cameras.

I have been trying to learn about the camera terms and what I need to know to buy one, but just cannot get my head around all the details.
I want to be able to take nice photos of my tank inhabitants, as well as take action shots of my frisbee dog outdoors. I am not looking for perfection, but just the best I can get for $500 or less.
I am leaning towards the PowerShot S2 IS, but the PowerShot A620 lists a macro focus as one of it's features, and I don't see that listed for the PowerShot S2 IS. Don't I want a macro focus mode to take pictures of corals?
Somebody chime in with some thoughts on these two cameras! I am stuck trying to research something that I know nothing about and feel very overwhelmed by the reading I come across.
